
Start at Blueberry Hill Inn (BHI) and 2.1 miles on Goshen / Ripton dirt road. Minimal traffic but must be alert. Left turn onto Moosalamoo Campground access road .5 miles. Sharp right to trail head with water only stop here.
. Moose aid #1 includes Gatorade and other goodies at 5.3 miles into the Moosalamoo Mountain loop located near the base of Rattlesnake cliff. This 5.3 miles is single track and technical with the most climbing of the race. Enjoy the view of Lake Dunmore and be careful. Then it is 2.9 miles to Moose aid # 2. This segment is mostly uphill and the Forest service will not allow me to route you thru the brook. Lucky for you. Crossing of the Brook can be done without getting shoes wet most of the time. Moose aid station #2 will be fully stocked. Left on trail for the 36 milers. Half Marathoners will now go right after this aid station and head to the finish line with no additional aid stations. 36 milers should see some really nice nettles. What you say you already have encountered stinging nettles? Well, if mother nature cooperates there will be more.. The 36 milers will go out 2.2 miles then turn around and back to AID # 2.
When the 36 milers leave AID # 2 for the second and final time they will go right for 1.1 miles and then left just before the Goshen Dam where the 14 and 36 split. Then .6 miles intersecting with forest road # 67 and then right 1.1 miles uphill on this almost never used dirt road. Then it is downhill 1.3 miles to Goshen Dam road where you can't miss Moose aid # 3. This aid will have a full complement of stuff including Grilled Cheese, Watermelon and Pickles. You will see this aid station again after you go to Silver Lake and return.
From this Aid it will be 4.2 miles mostly down to Silver Lake aid. You will travel past the feeder dam to Silver Lake. At this point a Penstock delivers water around the base of the hill to Silver Lake. You will be directed to run on or parallel to this large pipe line to fully stocked Moose Aid # 4 located overlooking Silver Lake. Bathroom is located here if one is needed.
From here it is 3.1 miles back to Moose Aid # 3 , you will climb .7 miles up Silver Lake access road. Turn left onto Elsie's loop cross country trail for 1.7 miles then you will have a .3 mile bushwack. Just before the road intersection you may encounter ankle deep water in the swamp , enjoy ) , when you reach the Goshen / Ripton road you will cross it and go straight across and onto the Goshen Dam road. About .4 mile up this road you will turn right onto the trail and be at Moose aid # 3 for the final time.At this point you need to follow the ribbons for the 14 mile race to the Inn. Once at the Inn you will pass behind it and head up to the base of Romance Mountain where you will find the final fully stocked Moose aid station # 5. There will be a water only aid at the next major intersection about 3.5 miles after aid #5.
