Start at Blueberry Hill Inn (BHI) and 2.1 miles on Goshen / Ripton dirt road. Minimal traffic but must be alert. Left turn onto Moosalamoo Campground access road .5 miles. Sharp right to trail head. Moose Aid station #1 will be set up here. Water only.Make sure you load up on water.
Moose Aid 2 is now water and other goodies at 4.8 miles into the Moosalamoo Mountain loop near the base of Rattlesnake clif.This 4.8 miles is single track and technical with the most climbing of the race. Enjoy the view of Lake Dunmore. Then it is 2 miles back to Moose Aid # 1. This 2 mile stretch is mostly uphill and the Forest service will not allow me to route you thru the brook. Crossing of the Brook can be done without getting shoes wet.. Then .5 miles back up access road and directly across the road. Then .1 miles to fully stocked Moose aid station #3. Left on trail toward Widows clearing. Half Marathoners will go out 1 mile and turn around directly after a very nice patch of stinging nettles.What you say you already have encountered stinging nettles? Well, if mother nature cooperates there will be a patch that will make you happy you are not breaking trail. The 36 milers will continue out another 1.7 miles then turn around. Back at AID #3 the Half marathoners will turn right then .1 mile and turn left and return 2.1 miles to finish at BHI. The Half Marathon is now 14 miles or 15 miles and your journey is over.
The 36 milers will turn left at AID # 3 and go past Sugar Hill reservior intersecting with dirt road # 67 at 1.7 miles then right and 1.1 miles uphill on this almost never used dirt road. Your federal stimulus money at work. Then it is downhill 1.5 miles to Sugar Hill dirt road. Turn left and .3 miles on this dirt road then right onto short trail cut off. Then cross Goshen / Ripton road to fully stocked Moose Aid # 4. Total travel 4.9 easy miles.
Then 3.5 miles on cross country ski trail and past the feeder dam to Silver Lake. At this point a Penstock delivers water around the base of the hill to Silver Lake. You will be directed to run on or parallel to this large pipe line to fully stocked Moose Aid # 5 located overlooking Silver Lake. Bathroom is located here if one is needed.
From here it is 4.8 miles around Silver Lake and onto Chandler Ridge Mountain biking trail. This is all single track to fully stocked Moose Aid # 6. Aid is located at the junction of Leicester Hollow road. Then left onto Leicester hollow trail/road 3.1 miles back to Aid #5. The single track trail was constructed at a price of 300K in stimulus money including a very nice bridge and you will pass by 2 Bathrooms constructed at 25K each. Very nice for waterless outhouses. You are almost done. 1 mile up Silver Lake access road. Left onto Elsie's loop cross country trail for 2.5 miles (just before the road intersection you may encounter ankle deep water, enjoy ) , right onto Goshen /Ripton road then 1.2 miles to finish.
